Interesting Webinar Coming Up

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! We were able to raise the funds to give our resident Dave NAD+ injection treatments in the first morning of the fundraiser! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.

One of my big heroes in this fight against Alzheimer’s is Dr Dale Bredesen. His book The End of Alzheimer’s inspired me to fight this dread disease in my assisted living homes.

I’m guessing most of you have heard of Dr Bredesen. He has lots of videos on YouTube. He is a Neurologist who graduated with a degree from Caltech and his medical degree is from Duke University.

Not exactly an easy path to take for your education. We’re not talking a quack here.

He has devoted the last 30 or so years of his life to solving the challenge of dementia and Alzheimer’s in particular.

His research has taken him to a much more functional medicine approach to the disease. One that says there are many causes of Alzheimer’s - I believe he is up to 36 factors.

The book compares Alzheimer’s to a leaky roof with 36 holes in it. A pharmaceutical drug will only target one or two holes in the roof.

Patching one or two holes doesn’t solve the problem of a leaky roof.

There are three broad categories of issues with Alzheimer’s, according to him:

  1. Inflammation - including insulin resistance

  2. Lack of important vitamins and minerals

  3. Toxic load

Within each category are lots of different markers you want to optimize.

For the record, we don’t do the Bredesen Protocol at our homes. We chose instead to work with A Mind for All Seasons and their Enhance Protocol instead.

There are a lot of similarities between the two. The large difference that we support is that I feed my residents more meat-based diets.  The Bredesen Protocol is more of a plant-based approach.

Nevertheless I wholeheartedly agree with his other therapies and lifestyle changes.

You can also see a great documentary of the successes he has had mitigating and reversing cognitive decline in some of his patients.

Or read about some of the successes he has had in his book The First Survivors of Alzheimer’s.

On March 4th from 6-8pm (Mountain Time in the US) Dr Bredesen will be putting on a webinar with a PhD and another MD called “Reversing Cognitive Decline at Scale”.

It’s a virtual webinar and looks like anyone can join. I registered for it.

The other MD is Kristine Burke. Dr Burke is the Director for True Health Precision Medicine in El Dorado Hills, California. According to her bio at the True North website:

“She is an expert in the reversal and prevention of chronic diseases such as dementia, diabetes, heart attacks and strokes with a special focus on mold-related illness and its connection to many health conditions.”

I have not personally heard of her before this webinar. She does seem to have the credentials to provide some excellent information.

I’m sure I’ll give you a summary in my newsletter after the webinar (as long as something doesn’t come up and I miss it!).

Although you will probably get more out of it by attending yourself. I hope you enjoy it and I hope it helps!
