We Need Your Input: What Would Make You Join Our Health Community?
I hope you've been finding value in our newsletter discussions about preventing dementia and maintaining your health as you age.
I'm reaching out today because I want to be honest with you about something: we launched an online community called “Thrive at Your Home” to help people like you (or possibly your elderly parents) stay healthy, active, and independent through lifestyle changes—diet, exercise, mental engagement, and social connection.
Here's why this matters so much: As you probably know, I own three assisted living facilities, and I see the reality every day. Most of the people living in these homes didn't plan to be here.
They made choices—or didn't make choices—about their health when they were younger and thought they had time.
Now, facing conditions like dementia, heart disease, or diabetes, many of them tell me they wish they'd started earlier.
The hard truth is this: by the time you need assisted living, it's often too late.
Dementia doesn't just reverse. Once significant cognitive decline sets in, you can't get those years back.
Advanced heart disease and diabetes cause permanent damage.
The window to prevent these conditions—or at least slow their progression—is NOW, while you still have the ability to make real changes.
The difference between someone who takes action today and someone who waits five or ten years is enormous. The earlier you start building healthy habits, the more you protect your future independence.
But if you wait until you're 75 or 80, dealing with multiple chronic diseases, the mountain becomes almost impossible to climb.
That's why Thrive at Your Home exists—not as a nice-to-have, but as something genuinely important for your health future.
The problem? We haven't had the sign-ups we'd hoped for, which tells me we're not yet building what you actually need.
Rather than guess, I'm asking you directly: What would make you actually join and use an online community like this—one focused on preventing the chronic diseases that lead to assisted living?
Is it:
Specific content you'd want to see? (meal plans, exercise videos, recipes, brain games, sleep optimization, medication management?)
A particular format? (Live video coaching? Chat groups? One-on-one support? Self-paced courses?)
Who you'd want to connect with? (People in your age group? Adult children caring for aging parents? Specific health conditions?)
Accountability features? (Tracking progress? Weekly challenges? Coach feedback?)
The cost? (Is it a pricing issue?)
Something else entirely that we haven't even thought of?
Maybe you're already using another platform that's working for you, or maybe you're not convinced an online community would actually change your health trajectory.
That's valuable information too.
Here's what I know: the people who act now—who start with diet changes, who commit to exercise, who engage their minds, who build community—they're the ones who stay independent. They're the ones who never need my facilities. That's the outcome I want for you.
Would you take 2 minutes and hit reply to this email? Tell me:
1. Does the idea of preventing chronic disease early resonate with you?
2. What's the ONE thing that would make you actually use an online community focused on this?
3. If you're not interested, what would need to be different?
I will read and respond to every response personally. Even if it’s just to say ‘thank you’. Your honest feedback helps us build something that actually works—something that could genuinely change your health future.
The time to start is now.
