Reigniting a Facebook Group
About a year and a half ago, I did my first podcast. It was the Shawn Baker podcast and it was a lot of fun.
I wanted to capitalize on the publicity so I started a Facebook group. A few people signed up for it, but I didn’t really know what I was doing. It sort of fizzled because I think people were expecting me to just post every day and they would read it.
That’s why I started this newsletter instead. It seemed like if I was just going to post all the time, I would send it to people’s emails instead.
Don’t get me wrong. I have no plans to stop writing this newsletter. I enjoy writing it. And I REALLY enjoy the feedback I receive and the wonderful stories of caring you send me.
Instead I thought the Facebook group would be great addition for like-minded people to have discussions on the best way to care for elderly people. Younger people too!
Sort of a crowd-source for the best ways to get healthy.
It is also a place to throw lots of ideas out there and see what sticks. I have a lot of people I know..
Sending me links
Recommending books
Showing me videos
Connecting me with experts etc.
And I appreciate every one of them. I just can’t try all of them on our residents (or myself). I try to sort through them the best I can and figure out what will be most effective.
Of course I also bring up the ideas to my families, my favorite doctors, and other experts. I also obtain family’s permission before we try anything.
However, there may be ideas I don’t implement in my homes that might work very well for you or your family member. You won’t know about it unless we can spread the knowledge.
No pressure to join. Just want to let you know.
It’s a private group so you have to request to join it. It’s called Brainstorming Alzheimer’s. I’d love it if you joined.
I’d love it if you participated as well. I will post ideas and interesting links that I find or have implemented in our homes. I will also post videos that I share on other social media from our resident’s successes.
It will work best if you can do the same. Let everyone know what you find out. Share some tips and resources that have helped you out. Help others in the group.
And of course I will keep writing this newsletter. I really appreciate how much fun you have made this for me.
