Another Great Resource for Caregivers
Medical practitioners such as doctors and nurses receive years of training. Then they have to pass rigorous tests for their licenses.
Although caregivers in assisted living and nursing homes don’t receive as extensive training, they still have to take courses and pass exams.
Yet when individuals have to take care of an elderly family member, often they don’t receive squat for resources or training.
Sometimes you receive sympathy from others. Sometimes you don’t even get that.
My friends at A Mind for All Seasons want to change that. They are the folks who help us in our assisted living homes with our Dementia protocols.
If you have a loved one who needs help with cognitive issues, I highly recommend contacting them. They have many resources to help you remotely. They have lots of success stories of turning around cognitive decline.
They’re Alzheimer’s and Dementia experts
They help NFL players and others who have suffered from concussions
Executives seek them out to improve brain function and perform at higher levels
People of all ages work with them if there is a mental illness
Yes I want to toot their horn. They’ve done wonderful things for my residents and me.
I understand though that you might not be ready to sign up with them. Instead I wanted to tell you about a wonderful resource they have.
Every weekday, Eric Collett, the CEO of A Mind for All Seasons records and publishes a short, 3-7 minute video called The Caregiver Minute. If you sign up, he will send the video to your email inbox.
I’ve learned a ton from these videos. They are absolutely free. You can stop them at any time.
They go over so much for caregivers in terms of tips and techniques. Of course I have to say they are for information purposes only and not medical advice. But they are a great resource.
I often send them to my caregivers or discuss them with my staff. I also recommend them to my assisted living resident’s families. And many times they will call or text saying:
‘Have you seen the latest caregiver video?'
Eric has been in the adult care and medical industry for a long time. He used to be the Executive Director of a large assisted living facility, then worked as the Executive Director of a memory care community for 7 years. He’s seen it all.
Now he wants to impart his wisdom to you. He knows the struggles people go through with their loved ones at home, especially with cognitive decline.
He is just trying to make your life easier. To fill in the gaps for families struggling with care at home.
If you are working with an elderly family member, God Bless you for doing so. If you are struggling, these videos may help.
